SIA’s Next Step

Matthew MacKenzie’s wonderful play, which we workshopped back in April (with a whole lot of help from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts), will receive its second New York reading, as part of the inaugural season of the newTACTics festival, tomorrow and Thursday. Jenn Thompson, who directed SIA for us back in April, will again be at the helm. For details and reservation info., click here.

David Caudle Takes A ‘Short Fall’ On Fourth Street

Our good friend David Caudle has teamed up with the NYIT Award winning Toy Box Theatre Company and is currently running his new play The Short Fall at Teatro Iati until June 18th. Mr. Caudle is as talented as he is prolific (and believe us, he is prolific) and we were lucky enough to have produced readings of two of his previous works (Damsel, directed by Jenn Thompson and Visiting Hours, directed by Janice Goldberg). Highly recommended!

At Long Last, ‘Any Night’ Arrives

Already the recipients of a number of high profile awards, including the protege portion of the Siminovitch Prize, Daniel Arnold and Medina Hahn should likely make room in their trophy cabinet for some sort of gold-plated acknowledgement for, let’s say, Persistence In The Field Of Producing. It was spring of 2009 when they began exploring the possibility of bringing their critically acclaimed play Any Night to New York City. On Thursday, June 2nd, after combing the streets of downtown Manhattan for just the right venue and enlisting some high-powered help, two years of work will be rewarded when Any Night opens at The LABA Theater at The 14th Street Y.

Why It Helps To Play Hockey With A Kick-Ass Artist

What do we have in common with the The Harvard Business Review, The Atlantic, and Playboy Magazine? Well, we’re all clients of Mr. Jonathan Bartlett, a New York based illustrator who deals in multi-media metaphors and who, from time to time, can score a pretty nice goal off the wing.
