Morro and Jasp do NYC

At long last, Toronto-based Pochinko artists Amy Lee and Heather Marie Annis, along with director Byron Laviolette, have made their way south of the 49th, bringing their critically acclaimed Toronto Fringe hit Morro and Jasp do Puberty to the NY Clown Festival. The Canadian Comedy Award nominees have just three performances left through Sunday, so get over to Brooklyn while you still can.

From their press release:

After a double 5-star, sold-out run in the 2009 Toronto Fringe Festival including an extension at the Best of the Fringe, plus a two week remount in both Montreal at the new Theatre St. Catherine and in Toronto at Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace, UNIT Productions is thrilled to announce Morro and Jasp do Puberty will be a part of this year’s NY Clown Theatre Festival at the Brick Theatre in Brooklyn in September.

Performed and created by “the crowned queens of clown” (EYE), Toronto-based Pochinko artists Amy Lee and Heather Marie Annis have reunited with director Byron Laviolette to bring you sixty minutes of laughter, longing, tears and tampons. Not recommended for kids!

Offering a hilarious look back at the best period of your life, Morro and Jasp do Puberty explores the bumpy road to adulthood with all of its romanticized dreams and harsh realities. Beware – it’s a bloody good time!
Morro and Jasp do Puberty was named ‘Outstanding Ensemble’ and ‘Outstanding Production’ (NOW) and was nominated for a 2010 Canadian Comedy Award for Best Play.
